Welcoming New Sales Director - Arabella Papers

After a dreary winter, Spring is officially here and its time for all things new.

Arabella Papers is proud to introduce our new National Sales Director, Jennifer Fogel. Jennifer comes to us with an extensive background in retail sales that include Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Gap Inc. to name a few. She also has extensive project management and conceptual design experience while designing intimate apparel for the Loveable Company. Please join me in welcoming her to our family. I am sure a lot of you have already had the pleasure of speaking to her on the phone, and if not, you will be hearing from her shortly! It has been a very long and busy few months since we last talked. How are you? My, you look well.

Many things afoot here! Our latest album, BELLA Weddings, launched this Fall and already we've been overwhelmed by the positive response from retailers and brides. It's a sunny Saturday in Hotlanta and I'm working on an Arabella samples clean out blow out! A much needed Spring clean up is on the way. Calling on all scrap bookers and creative bodies. Pink Zebras

Happy Monday, everyone!

Atlanta weather, for all of us natives and transplants alike, is a real thing of wonder. During my last update it was snowing, and one week later we will be at nearly 70 degrees! How does this happen? Oh well, who am I to complain about a gorgeous day?

Today's featured pick is from our Custom Bar/Bat Mitzvah album and it features some of the big trends in stationery: shapes and bold patterns.

Shapes are great ways to make your invitation set have visual interest, after all, we all receive nice rectangular envelopes, but we don't often get a scalloped card inside! It's another trick to make your invitation that much more memorable, and it's also one of the easiest things to do! We do custom shapes daily!

Another big trend is the use of bold patterns! Seen here, we are using a zebra print pattern using our signature tone-on-tone look. Matte Pink ink is layered on Shimmer Blush Pink paper to create a look that is textured and interesting. And because this is an invitation for a Bat Mitzvah, why not incorporate both trends? We all know that 12 year old girls want everything, and so we give it to them. Us Arabella girls aim to please.

Girls are Getting the Blues

Hello All!

It is a snowy day in Atlanta, so that means it's time for another pick of the week!

Today's pick features our "Country Flowers" design out of our Bar/Bat Mitzvah book. One big difference, though, is that our design was yellow, pink, and brown, and this client transformed it into shades of blue and white!

Every girl is different, which is why this pick of the week is so fantastic. Who knew that shimmer soft blue, navy, and bright white could come together and be so...flirty, feminine, sophisticated, and girly?! It's so easy to be a girl and think "pink", but with a little design know-how and guts, this design shows that blue isn't just for boys anymore. This design comes from the ever creative gals at Kate's Paperie 3rd Ave in NYC, who never cease to amaze us.

New Pick - Navy, Black and Silver

Our next fresh pick comes to us from sunny San Diego and India Ink Papers. Something we see a lot of are clients that want to use classic elements in new, funky ways. This client is using traditional black and white, but also incorporating the unexpected (shimmer navy blue paper and hints of metallic silver). The result is an invite that has both tradition and contemporary style - the perfect west coast bride! We have the opportunity to design fun and exciting stationery for retailers all over the country, and we love it when they surprise us! Thank you, India Ink Papers!

Espresso Bar Mitzvah Invitation - The Newest Pick

Happy Fat Tuesday, everyone!

Today's invitation comes from one of our absolute favorites, and she's right here in our hometown of Atlanta! Jenny's Paper, Ink specializes in doing excellent custom stationery, and this design is from a Bar Mitzvah we did based on our "Urban" design in our Bar/Bat Mitzvah album. It's a triple layer card using Ivory and Espresso Papers, printed with Ivory and Matte Sage Green inks. The thick card stock in 3 layers with the matte inks is very rich, very debonair...something I'm sure all 12 year old boys aspire to be. We've customized this design for Bat Mitzvahs as well by simply changing the papers and inks--black and azalea, green and teal, etc. The possibilities are really endless! Thanks, Jenny, for flexing your design muscle(s) and coming up with something truly one of a kind!

Happy Mardi Gras everyone (though I think our good friends in New Orleans have been celebrating since the Super Bowl)! Tonight is the last night to feast before Lent, so enjoy it while you can. And for those who don't observe Lent, take the opportunity to have fun and be merry with your friends and neighbors...and don't worry about eating chocolate and cheese in front of them a few weeks from now. Their seething makes you strong.

Tropical Themes in Less Than Tropical Months

Hello All,

As hard as it is believe, now is the time that stationers all over the country begin seeing their summer clients for custom stationery. Tropical themes and destination weddings in warm, temperate locales are still very popular, and quite often it is the stationery that sets the mood for the entire event! We've had the opportunity to design several tropical themes and I would like to share some fresh ideas with you!

This first invite comes to us from our friends at Michael C. Fina in NYC and it is a fabulous destination wedding in Jamaica. The purple and teal combination is vibrant and reflects excitement and the shimmer teal paper and the matching teal ink perfectly complement the blue waters off the coast. Destination weddings have the ability to lean towards the unconventional, the new, and the unexpected, and this invitation embodies all of those ideas!

The next invite comes to us from our friends at Write On Sarasota in Sarasota, Florida. This invitation also showcases the tropical theme by using a bright green custom ink and our shimmer tangerine paper. Another tip in order to achieve that tropical, beachy look is to use bold patterns and bold colors together, which this invite does flawlessly. We designed a custom spider mum for the corner of the mounted invite and printed it in the custom pantone color the client requested. To add more visual interest, we used bold, white stripes on the outside of the square folder and printed the custom spider mum on the outside of the envelope in bright white ink, and voila, tasteful tropical elegance!

The tropical theme is fun and, when done well, sets the tone for your event that traditional black and white just can't do! A great source of inspiration for tropical themes is to take a look at fashion collections coming up for spring and summer and notice the patterns and colors that designers predict to be big hits. Or, you can always contact your local Arabella retailer and see what they can whip up for you!

A Study in Flexibility - Peony Vines

Hello All!

As we get ready for the exciting stationery season coming up, we felt it right and proper to show you the incredible design flexibility our line can offer your special event.

All brides want their big day to be different and special. Likewise, all of those young boys and girls celebrating their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Sweet Sixteens, and Quinceneras want to feel equally as special. These are very big days in our lives, moments that could shape the rest of our personal histories. Who wants to enter their new and exciting chapter of life with so-so stationery?

The pattern we are featuring this week is known as "Peony Vines" and it is a perfect multi-tasker. It's a pattern that works in a variety of situations; it's elegant and sophisticated, young and fresh, trendy and classic, fashion-forward and forward-thinking. If we could strap it to a desk and make it answer your important phone calls, I would be out of a job. I am very relieved that this is an impossible scenario.

This first example is a custom wedding invitation we did for the hard-working folks at Kate's Paperie on West 57th Street in NYC. It is a custom ribboned folder using rich red and gold inks on shimmer ruby and pearl papers. Red and gold is a perfect combination for Asian weddings as well as all sophisticated affairs.

This next example is a Bat Mitzvah Invitation we did for a new retailer in NYC called RSVP Today. This invitation is azalea and black and showcases the Peony pattern in a new way. The pink is youthful and the black peony pattern is bold and fashionable - just what every girl wants to be at that age! Our line of stationery is so customizable that the same pattern, with just a little tweaking, is the perfect accent to making a memorable event that much more special. Our talented retailers never fail to amaze us with their great ideas! We've also done this pattern in a huge array of other colors - yellow and mint green, black and gold, coral, navy, and espresso and white.

Why yes, it could! This week, we are featuring an invitation suite in our new Bar/Bat Mitzvah album called "Swirly Nights." This colorful invitation features blush pink and seafoam green inks on black paper. Yes, black paper! Not everyone can do this, but our process gives you the design flexibility to do exactly that. Setting the Table with Victoria

Hello Everyone!

Happy two-weeks-into-the New Year! I don't know about you, but all of us are so excited about wedding season. We especially love it when people we know and like get married. This week's special feature is a Venetian-style menu we did for one of our favorite reps in the Arabella-sphere ... custom design extraordinaire Victoria at Kate's Paperie on Third Avenue in NYC.

Victoria's menu was a custom Venetian pattern on shimmer copper paper using matte ivory and gold inks. Pair that with the soft, romantic lighting and you've got a really spectacular piece for your guests to marvel over. After years of helping brides design their big day, Victoria had the opportunity to design her own, and all of us at Arabella were happy to be included! Congratulations, V!

Straight from a happy Arabella Bride!

Hello All,

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great day and getting ready for a fabulous halloween weekend! Our creative director surprised us with candy goblets and cobwebs for the office...and we've been eating tootsie rolls nonstop for two weeks.

Other than the endless amounts of candy and coffee, one of the many perks about this job is hearing from a happy client. As a nationwide company sold in the most exclusive stores in the country, we very rarely get to see our clients face to face, and so little messages like these really brighten our day. This message comes from Rachel Kress, a bride that worked with a new stationer of ours in Peoria, Illinois called The Bronze Frog. The picture on the left is featuring a custom program made with a creamy, matte ivory paper, champagne ribbon, and matte copper and black inks! Such a classic piece!

Rachel writes:

A New Pick of the Week!!!

Hello All!

A brand new pick of the week that comes courtesy of Tamar Kaissar Fine Papers in NYC. Teal paper with aqua ink...oh, shut the front door! Our clover pattern and gold accents really make this an altogether fabulous invitation set...one of my personal favorites in the past few months.

On another note, all of us in the office are getting ready for a great holiday season. The next great holiday around here? Diwali!

Diwali is a national holiday in India known as the Festival of Lights and marks the end of harvest season for most of India and Nepal, October 17th this year. It's a celebration of many kinds of light: it signifies the ghee lamps that lit the way for the god Rama after his long exile and it also stands for a celebration of the light within. In celebrating the inner light, one also celebrates the oneness of all beings and discovers the essence beyond the physical body: the pure, infinite, inner soul called the Atman. By discovering this inner soul, one is also tuned into the ultimate reality known as Brahman, the grounding for all things in the universe.

The story of Diwali varies according to region, but the key component is the celebration of inner light. And regardless of your personal affiliations, Diwali has many things we all can appreciate. And if you know anything about Diwali, Indians really know how to celebrate their holidays.

I hope that this may encourage you to look for your own local Diwali celebration! I know I will!

As mentioned previously, Inside Weddings is a fantastic magazine that is available in the Los Angeles area. It's filled with great pictures, useful shopping guides, and of course, our popular Plum Vineyard invitation! Go to newsstands and pick it up while it lasts.

All of us at Arabella Papers are gearing up for a fantastic holiday season! Our new line, the limited-edition 2008-2009 Custom Holiday Album, was launched less than a month ago and the response has been fantastic!
